Описание:
A weighing machine does NOT measure your mass or weight — it actually measures the Normal Reaction (N) acting on you. The machine then converts this Normal force into mass and displays it.
We also studied how this reading changes when the weighing machine is inside a lift:
🔸 When the lift accelerates upwards, the Normal increases → you feel heavier
🔸 When the lift accelerates downwards, the Normal decreases → you feel lighter
🔸 This change in reading is called Apparent Mass / Apparent Weight
🔸 Reason: Direction of acceleration changes the value of Normal force
We derived all the cases with free-body diagrams and solved numerical problems.
Concepts Covered:
What weighing machines really measure
Normal force and its relation to displayed mass
Apparent weight in an accelerated frame
Lift moving up/down + free fall
Why weight becomes zero during free fall
Solved examples (step-by-step)
