When Even AI Can’t Figure Out a Title, You Know It’s Chaos!

This week on the yard is absolutely packed:
• Cherry Picker Challenge – WelderFabber’s lads get sent 18m high to finish off the steel racking on the yard.
• Dave’s Last Week as a Bricklayer – he smashes through as much blockwork as he can on my sister’s extension before moving into civil engineering. We lift steels, debate padstones, and share some advice for the next generation of bricklayers.
• New Gear, New Problems – I buy a wood chipper off eBay… but after one test run it breaks down. Is it worth the gamble? On top of that, the tipper truck fuel pump fails, meaning a trip to Mercedes Liverpool to get it back earning.
• Upgrades on the Yard – new 3-phase MIG welder with help from WelderFabber, a galvanised roof going on to keep the racking dry, a new radio in the Luton van, and even fresh signage for the gates (not everyone was happy about that!).
• Site Work – scaffolding chaos for Cosi Living on a tricky commercial site, Ben fixing dodgy electrics on the student jobs, and the knock-through house getting closer to the kitchen delivery.
• Liverpool’s Best House?! – I get called out to fit a roof window and end up in one of the nicest grade-listed buildings I’ve ever seen in the city. A proper cherry picker job!
• New Tools & Sales – drainage equipment ordered for an upcoming job, moulds sold on eBay, and a few pieces of kit getting a fresh coat of primer.

We finish the week with something that really matters: mental health in construction.
