Sunday, December 7, 1941 dawned as a normal day on the Pere Marquette Railway. Just one day earlier, the road took delivery of a brand new Berkshire-type steam locomotive, numbered 1225. The morning of December 7 caught the unsuspecting Berk on the head of a freight, creeping out of New Buffalo. At the exact same time in the Pacific, however, the country was under attack.
In remembrance of all those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941.
