In this vlog, I take my Minolta film camera out again but this time it’s lightly raining and I’m exploring part Vancouver’s Waterfront walk by Pacific Plaza.
This vlog also includes some behind‑the‑scenes moments of shooting with a film camera, talking about the experience of exploring the walk around Pacific Plaza and showing how I line up and wait for shots. If you’re into analog film photography and want to see how I try to find photos during the quiet season of this cruise ship port, this vlog gives you a calm, atmospheric look at the city through a film shooter’s perspective.
After this, I’ll be going to Chinatown in Vancouver next!

For clarification: at one point, Minolta was a film camera and lens company that was pretty popular. Sony ended up adopting their autofocus lens mount and eventually adopted that lens mount for their digital cameras (non as the Sony A-Mount, which is the Minolta AF lens mount). Lenses are somewhat swappable between the older Sony digital cameras (like the Sony A700 or A900) and the older but autofocus capable Minolta film cameras of the 90s/2000s. So while I was using a Minolta autofocus film camera, I was able to use it together with an older A-mount Sony lens and it all worked together perfectly.
Video tools: Iphone 12 with an anamorphic adaptor and Rode Mic and Ulanzi Grip. And used the Insta360 Go 2 (yes, the old one) with a magnet adaptor on my inner jacket for point of view (POV) video.
