Like any other port in the UK interesting ships, boats and yachts slip in and out of Belfast all the time. Of course some are more noticeable than others.
Here are 3 of our recent arrivals.
the HMS Example HMS Explorer & HMS Puncher. They have dropped into Belfast for some welcome R&R.
These Royal Navy vessels are from the IPBS or Inshore Patrol Boat Squadron. There are 14 of these ( Archer Class ) P2000 Fast Inshore Patrol Craft in all. They form the First Patrol Boat Squadron. Their primary role is to support the University Royal Naval Units (URNU) but they also contribute to a wide range of Fleet tasking.

Total range 550 nautical miles
Top speed 25 knots
On board 5 Crew + up to 12 cadets
Armament
Remote fully automated mount
A single mounting carrying an Oerlikon 30mm gun, it was designed as a ship-protection system to defend Royal Navy frigates from various short-range missiles, rockets, grenades and explosives.
The gun is controlled from a remote operator console elsewhere on the ship.
