Max Vermoken, chief executive of recently-listed construction materials player SigmaRoc, cheerfully admits the sector is “the most boring thing you can think of”, and yet, perversely, there is a lot of appetite for businesses like these. “You step outside the door into the street and you walk on materials that companies like ours are supplying,” he observed.
SigmaRoc’s model is built around supplying these essential materials to frontier markets. Vermoken says the time is right and so is the team he has behind him.
