Pears in Puff Pastry with Nuts and a Secret Ingredient
This dish is a fantastic centerpiece for any table and is sure to impress.
Ingredients:
🍐 4 pears (each about 180g),
🫓 1 package of puff pastry,
🍯 2 tsp honey or maple syrup,
🥄 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon,
🌰 ~100g walnuts,
🥚 1 egg (for glazing, optional),
🧀 ~15-20g Dor Blue cheese (❗️only if you like this combination! Originally without cheese).
Tips:
Pears should be juicy and ripe but not overripe.
Overlap the pastry (~2-3mm) with each layer.
The larger the cavity in the pear, the more filling it can hold, making it tastier.
Method:
1. Peel the pears, cut off the bottom, and carefully remove the cores and some pulp to create a cavity for the filling.
2. Finely chop the walnuts and mix with honey and cinnamon.
3. Fill the pears with the nut mixture and add a piece of cheese.
4. Cut the pastry into strips and squares for the base of the pears.
5. Wrap the pears as shown in the video.
6. Brush with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (428°F) until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Turn the pears once halfway through baking.
