Wheelchair & Accessible Walks High Peak Junction, Crompton Canal, Derbyshire. Nr Matlock

Описание: Hello everyone and welcome to our first walk of 2020.

We have spent an amazing day exploring the High Peak Junction and the Crompton canal, and it did not disappoint.

Last year we took a walk around Middleton Top and Black Rocks, Crompton is an extension to this walk and if your feeling brave can be incorporated, click here to see our Middleton Top walk;

The walk is suitable for all, with hard compact stone surface and level terrain, (accept the hill from high peak junction carpark to the visitors center.)
A tramper is available to pre-book through the Access for all Scheme run by Derbyshire County Council.

The area is steeped in history and offers visitors lots of great information about how the rail and waterways were used in the past.

The staff here are incredibly helpful and full of knowledge. They were more than happy to chat with us and tell us all we wanted to know!
High Peaks Workshop is a great place to start this adventure, and the audio tour will tell you lots of useful information, to make your walk more enjoyable.

Disabled facilities, including changing place at Cromford Wharf.
Helpful and friendly staff.
We found the area beautiful and relaxing.

The cost to visit is very reasonable or free.

Ponts were lost for:

limited disabled parking.
Ease of access from the car park to the visitor's center
And for no heating in the accessible bathroom. (that toilet seat was super cold.) 🥶
