Accessible only by boat, Green Cabin is a modern interpretation of the classic Canadian cottage, harmonizing with the landscape of Robert’s Island on Georgian Bay. Designed as a seasonal extension to the existing cabin, it balances contemporary minimalism with a respectful nod to the traditional rooflines and muted tones of the original retreat.

Key Design Highlights:
• Framing nature:
A glazed west façade captures breathtaking bay views while preserving privacy and respecting local zoning and sightlines.
• Material continuity:
The standing seam metal cladding, continuous from roof to walls, defines a crisp silhouette. A steel drip edge protects the windows and emphasizes the building’s sculptural form.
• Sensitive siting:
Nestled into a tree line, the south and east elevations are quiet and grounded. Small ash-clad bump-outs provide intimate views and passive ventilation via awning windows.
• Architectural detail:
A dual-hip roof converges at a skylight, creating a dramatic focal point visible from a connecting deck and walkway, blending architecture with approach and arrival.
