En esta ocasión os traemos al Mono aullador o Mono congo (Alouatta palliata). Se trata de una especie de primate platirrino, caracterizada por poseer un gran hueso hioides que le permite emitir aullidos muy intensos audibles varios kilómetros de distancia. Suelen emitir estos característicos aullidos al amanecer y atardecer para advertir a otros grupos de su presencia.
Es una especie grande y robusta, de extremidades largas y fuertes que le permiten desplazarse con gran facilidad por el dosel arbóreo. Por lo general, utilizan su cola prensil, dotada de una almohadilla final carente de pelo, para suspenderse en las ramas mientras se alimentan, facilitándoles el empleo del resto de extremidades para alcanzar hojas, frutas y flores en las que se basa su dieta. Viven en grupos de hasta 20 ejemplares, pero, por norma general, se suelen congregar en grupos pequeños. Estos grupos cuentan con un macho dominante y varias hembras reproductoras.
Entre los principales riesgos que le amenazan se encuentran la pérdida, transformación y fragmentación del hábitat, la caza furtiva y el tráfico ilegal de crías como mascotas en el mercado.

Greetings to all!
This time we bring you the Howler monkey (Alouatta palliata). It is a species of platyrrhine primate, characterized by having a large hyoid bone that allows it to emit very intense howls audible several kilometers away. They usually emit these characteristic howls at dawn and dusk to warn other groups of their presence.
It is a large and robust species, with long and strong limbs that allow it to move easily through the tree canopy. In general, they use their prehensile tail, equipped with a hairless final pad, to suspend themselves on the branches while they feed, making it easier for them to use the rest of their limbs to reach the leaves, fruits and flowers on which their diet is based. They live in groups of up to 20 specimens, but, as a general rule, they tend to congregate in small groups. These groups have a dominant male and several reproductive females.
Among the main risks that threaten it are the loss, transformation and fragmentation of habitat, poaching and baby monkeys illegal trade as pets in the market.
