Heatwave intensifies in India, IMD issues alert as temperatures soar past 44 degrees

India’s weather agency has issued a red alert for heatwave conditions over the plains of Northwest, East and Central India for the next four days as the region experiences record-breaking heat. While parts of the Indian capital, New Delhi logged the highest temperature of 47.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, other areas in the nearby areas showed a similar trend, registering maximum temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. Experts have advised people to remain cautious and follow precautions like not going outside unless necessary, wearing white or light-colored dresses, and consuming more and more liquid.
