The HP 8557A Spectrum Analyzer is finally finished! I had completed some final adjustments needed off camera, but now it is good to go so I thought it would be fun to showcase it in working condition. Its first test is calibrating my 8654A RF sig gen that I had repaired in a previous video. In that video, it was clear that the frequency tuner was inaccurate and the sine wave for some ranges appeared a bit asymmetrical. So in this video I perform detector bias, AM distortion, and frequency accuracy adjustments. We also look at harmonic distortion. This wraps up the 8557A, but I won't be finished with old analog SAs just yet - I have an 8558B in a 853A mainframe that also needs repair!
