Our second day in Qatar – the first proper dive into Doha city. We woke up, chilled a bit, Stas headed out earlier, and I – as always – took my time, got ready slowly and calmly, and only then went to the city.

My first mission was to find the Lithuanian flag. There’s a spot on the Doha Corniche promenade where flags of the whole world are displayed. I found online that the Lithuanian one should be there too. So I walked around, searched, checked every pole – but couldn’t find it. Later I met Stas and he said the same – didn’t see it either. So either it was missing, or the info we found wasn’t accurate. But that day, the Lithuanian flag was nowhere to be seen on Doha’s flag avenue.

Next, we headed to the National Museum of Qatar. It doesn’t beat European museums, but it’s definitely worth visiting – beautiful, modern, luxurious, and the ticket price is pretty low. Qatar’s history isn’t long, but it’s presented in a very engaging and aesthetic way.

After the museum, we grabbed a taxi and went to the legendary Sheraton Hotel – the oldest one in Qatar. We had a special mission here: to eat a golden dessert. It’s basically a pudding covered in gold. Is it real gold? We don’t know. But we ate it, didn’t get poisoned, didn’t clutch our stomachs – survived just fine.

Later we wanted to go up the iconic Katara Towers – two hotels connected by a huge crescent-shaped structure. But that day there was some private event, and we were politely but clearly asked to leave. So we didn’t get to the top.

All day we traveled using the Doha metro and decided to try the Gold Class ticket. It costs 30 riyals – about 7 euros – and honestly feels royal. Trains come every 2 minutes, the transport system is flawless.

In the evening we went to Souq Waqif market. And this place was WOW – crowds of people, lights, smells, life everywhere. A completely different culture – but not a single drunk person, because alcohol is extremely rare here. The only downside – crazy amounts of smokers, cigarette smell everywhere.

Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped at a cozy street-food-style restaurant. The food was delicious and very cheap. That’s how we wrapped up our second day in Qatar.
