The Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific—a United Nations treaty—entered into force on 20 February 2021.
This landmark agreement helps countries adopt digital solutions for cross-border trade, making procedures faster, more transparent and more inclusive. As more countries join and implement the Agreement, trade costs can drop by up to 25 per cent, regulatory compliance improves and participation in trade becomes more resilient and accessible.
ESCAP encourages all member States to join the Framework Agreement and work together to build a seamless paperless trading environment in Asia and the Pacific.
