Speakers
Ella Harris: Author of 'Encountering the World with I-Docs' and an expert in creative research and ‘crisis cultures,’ Ella Harris discusses how Interactive Documentaries (I-Docs) create non-linear storytelling pathways that challenge dominant narratives and amplify diverse voices.

Su-ming Khoo: A Senior Lecturer in Political Science and Sociology at the National University of Ireland, Galway and co-editor of the forthcoming 'Creative Research Methods Journal', Su-ming Khoo explores how creative methods intersect with decolonial, feminist and anti-racist research, pushing the boundaries of traditional knowledge institutions.

Heidi van Rooyen: Professor and Chair of the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington and co-editor of 'Poetic Inquiry as Research', Heidi van Rooyen introduces Poetic Inquiry, a creative research approach that allows for deeper exploration and expression while centring decolonial perspectives.

Meet the Chair
Helen Kara is a researcher, author, teacher, and speaker specializing in research methods—particularly creative methods—and research ethics. She is the editor of the Creative Research Methods in Practice series and consulting editor for the Journal of Creative Research Methods, launching in 2025.
