Wunderschöne, mittelschwere Wanderung auf den Dürrenstein (2.839m – ital. Picco di Vallandro) in den Pragser Dolomiten.

Der Dürrenstein ist einer der schönsten Aussichtsberge in den Dolomiten und aufgrund der Höhenlage der Plätzwiese (1.990 m ü.d.M.), die wir als Startpunkt genommen haben, in einer relativ kurzen Wanderung zu erreichen. Die Wanderung ist bis auf eine gesicherte Stelle kurz vor dem Gipfel als nicht besonders schwierig einzustufen.
Die Plätzwiese ist nur über eine Mautstraße und mit dem eigenen Fahrzeug nur bis 10:00 morgens erreichbar (oben nur 100 PKW Parkplätze), anschließend über einen Shuttlebus.
Durch den Start an der Plätzwiese verkürzt sich der Aufstieg auf 4,5 km (eine Strecke), auf der dennoch 860 hm zu bewältigen sind. Der Anstieg ist jedoch stetig und nur moderat steil, es gibt keine schwierigen Stellen.
Der Abstieg erfolgt auf demselben Weg.
Während der Wanderung genießt man bereits Blicke auf die Hohe Gaisl, mit 3.234 m die höchste Erhebung der Pragser Dolomiten, und die Cristallo Gruppe. Richtung Vorgipfel tauchen dann die Drei Zinnen auf, daneben rechts die Cadini Gruppe. Und am Gipfel schließlich blickt man über die gesamten Sextener Dolomiten und in Richtung Hochpustertal und bekommt einen 360° Blick.
In der Ferne sieht man außerdem die Tofanen und viele weitere Dolomitenberge.
Einkehr ist zu Beginn oder am Ende möglich im Berggasthof Plätzwiese, oder bei Erweiterung des Abstiegs in der Almhütte Plätzwiese.

The Dürrenstein is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the Dolomites and can be reached in a relatively short hike due to the altitude of the Plätzwiese (1990 m), which we took as the starting point. The hike is not to be classified as particularly difficult except for a secured part shortly before the summit.
The Plätzwiese can only be reached via a toll road and with your own vehicle only until 10:00 am (and only 100 car parking spaces are avail.), then via a shuttle bus.
Starting at the Plätzwiese, the ascent is shortened to 4.5 km (one distance), on which 860 m of altitude still must be mastered. However, the ascent is steady and only moderately steep, there are no difficult parts.
The descent is the same way.
During the hike you can already enjoy views of the Hohe Gaisl, at 3234 m the highest point in the Braies Dolomites, and the Cristallo Group. The Drei Zinnen then appear towards the lower summit, next to it on the right the Cadini Group. And finally, at the summit you can see the entire Sexten Dolomites and towards Hochpustertal and get a 360° view.
In the distance you can also see the Tofanen and many other Dolomite mountains.
You can stop for a break at the beginning or at the end in the Plätzwiese mountain hut, or if you want to extend the descent, in the Plätzwiese Almhütte.
