When I was a young girl, I loved spending time outdoors. I have the best memories of camping outside with my dad and brother at the Bronx Zoo in New York. I loved nature, I loved dirt, I loved bugs... basically, I was a camping LOVER. As I’ve grown up, however, my excitement around camping has diminished slightly. I've started becoming more afraid of bugs and less interested in being out in the wilderness... PLUS I love my high-quality sleep on a comfy mattress, so sleeping on the ground doesn't excite me much. Even so, I’m still intrigued by the idea of tenting, and Michael and I thought going camping in our own backyard would be fun, so we gave it a try.
We ordered a tent and an air mattress online (links below), and we set up a romantic 24-hour getaway just outside of his parents' house. Even though we were just a few feet from the back door, the fresh air and nature sounds were new and exciting elements as compared to our usual night of sleep indoors. We heard lots of nature sounds and some sounds even scared us a bit (it was just the neighbor's dog 😂 ).

This was such a fun experience, BUT, I did skip my typical skincare routine on this night! I wanted to try to REALLY GO CAMPING, which meant no access to a sink for washing my face and going through my regimen. Shout out to Differin for keeping my skin clear and allowing me to do this.

Date nights can happen anywhere at any time, so don’t let the current restrictions get in the way of creating special moments in your relationships. Getting creative and trying new things, whether it goes smoothly or not, is one of my favorite ways to stay connected to the ones I love.
