Within New Mexico is a prominent and towering peak known as Mount Taylor. This peak represents the summit of a now highly eroded stratovolcano, which for a time was one of the highest peaks in the lower 48 states. Mt. Taylor has a fascinating geologic history, and it exists along a chain of recent volcanoes which stretches from Arizona to eastern New Mexico. This video will discuss how this volcano formed, and how large its eruptions were.
