Long queues were witnessed at several LPG agencies across Shillong on Tuesday as domestic consumers rushed to complete mandatory biometric Aadhaar authentication (eKYC) and Digital Authentication Compliance (DAC) procedures.
The rush follows a public advisory issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills, directing all LPG consumers to complete their eKYC and DAC formalities with their respective distributors at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted supply and continued access to subsidies.
The advisory warned that failure to comply could lead to disruption of LPG services. It also introduced revised booking norms, stating that refill requests will only be accepted after a minimum gap of 25 days from the last delivery. Any attempt to book before the stipulated period will be rejected by the system.
Consumers have been urged to cooperate with LPG distributors and complete the required procedures promptly. For assistance, they have been advised to contact their respective agencies.
Meanwhile, Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Saloni Verma clarified that the requirement for eKYC is not a new measure, but has been in place for some time. She explained that obtaining a DAC number—mandatory for domestic LPG connections—requires prior completion of eKYC verification.
