As we step into 2026 together, our prayer is that everything we learned in 2025 that was good, refining, and life-giving will carry forward with us into this new year.

Today we’re continuing our Sunday Service Q&A, and this message is titled:

Honest Curiosity About Hard Things in the Bible (Part 1)

If you’ve ever had questions you’ve been afraid to ask — you’re not alone. God is not threatened by sincere questions, and faith can grow when we bring our whole mind and heart to Him. If we don’t get to your question today, drop it in the live chat and we’ll add it to a future episode. And if I don’t know an answer, I’ll research it — I’m not here as the “Bible answer man,” but I am here to give you everything I know and help us learn together.

Today’s Questions:

1) Why does a loving God allow suffering and evil?
We discuss perspectives including free will, living in a broken world, God suffering with us, redemption, and viewing life through an eternal lens.

2) Why does God sometimes seem harsh or violent in the Old Testament?
We talk about understanding historical context, covenants, judgment and mercy, and why Jesus is the clearest lens for interpreting God’s heart.

3) Is the Bible meant to be taken literally in every part?
We cover genre (history, poetry, prophecy, wisdom, letters), why context matters, and why Jesus is the interpretive key to understanding Scripture.

We close asking God for wisdom, clarity, and understanding — and that these conversations would draw us closer to truth, not confusion.
