National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh observed the World Hepatitis Day 2020 in Bangladesh on July 28, 2020.
Events were made adjusting the existing COVID-19 pandemic. “Find the Missing Millions “as publicized by World Hepatitis Alliance was the theme, which is crucial to achieve ELIMINATION 2030 goals.
World Hepatitis Day 2020 Webinar: Participants are: Prof. Mohammad Ali, Founder, National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, Cary James, CEO, World Hepatitis Alliance ,Kabagambe Kenneth, Founder Executive Director, The National Organization for People Living with Hepatitis B (NOPLHB)Kampala, Uganda, Prof. Salimur Rohman, President, Association for the Study of the Liver Diseases, Bangladesh, Maj Gen. Rabiul Hossain (Retd.), Former Director General, Medical Services, Bangladesh Armed Forces, Prof. M. Anisur Rohman, Joint Secretary General, National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, Prof. Md. Abu Sayeed, Vice President, Hepatology Society, Dhaka, Bangladesh& Prof. Faruque Ahmed, General Secretary, Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society.
Webinar started with a video presentation showing tribute to beloved father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ,on the occasion of centenary 1920-2020. World hepatitis day message of Hon. President, Hon. Prime Minister, Health Minister &President of World Hepatitis Alliance exhibited.
Video message of Dr. Su Wang, President, World Hepatitis Alliance presented. She put special emphasis on Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), which is easiest & most cost-effective way of controlling the common cause of Hepatitis B transmission.
Tribute shown to recently departed Hon. Chairman of National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, National Professor Jamilur Reja Choudhury & Treasurer Dr. Md. Mohsin Kabir.
Story of patients living with viral hepatitis, one with hepatitis B another Hepatitis C exhibited. They received treatment under the Zakat Fund of the Foundation.
Distinguished participants discussed different aspects viral hepatitis control strategy, barriers, its overcoming challenges, effects of COVID-19 pandemic & fulfillment of ELIMINATION 2030 goals in Bangladesh & global arena.
Prof. Mohammad Ali put special emphasis on how to overcome the barriers & alternative ways to continuance of achieving the elimination 2030 goals in COVID 19-pandameic. The Webinar ended with concluding remark by Mr. Cary James.
