No, NOT the Scottish Sedition!
The present Sedition hailed from Northampton and were active between 1983 and 1987. This is a full live set recorded at Northampton's Roadmender on the 28th of September, 1985. This gig had a pretty wicked line-up with Antisect (as a three-piece), DIRT (both bands being then on tour together), Deviated Instinct (in their early anarcho days) and of course Sedition were playing.
Sedition apparently recorded a demo (1987?) called "60 miles by road or rail", a song from which was included on a Cold Spring Records tape compilation (it also had Psychic TV and Charlie Don't Surf). At some point, Tim Andrews (who fronted Antisect between 86 and 87) sang for the band (I think it is him indeed on this particular recording) and Greg Bull (recent author of three brilliant books about 80's anarchopunk) played the guitar.
The sound is pretty good for a live recording since it was done through the mixing deck and it is a great listen, despite sometimes lengthy breaks between songs. Musically, Sedition were very solid and, like many bands in the mid-80's, added some metal influences to their vintage anarchopunk sound. Somewhere between Civilised Society?, Anti-System, Potential Threat and of course Antisect (who resided in Northampton before they moved to London).
I found this wonderful recording on the website http://nr23.net/, a Norwich-based collective that documented the alternative cultural life of the area in the 80's. You can find the set recordings of the other bands on the bill on their website and quite a few delightful Deviated Instinct ones as well.
