Genesis 15:13-14 (KJV): “And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them, and they shall afflict them four hundred years. God can give you a dream that extends beyond your lifetime. He did that with Abraham. God showed him that his descendants would one day be slaves in Egypt, but also that they would be delivered and come out with great wealth. That promise was fulfilled more than four hundred years later. Abraham did not live to see it happen, yet he was still an essential part of the story.

When God gives you a dream like that, it is not meant to simply impress or amaze you. It is meant to invite you to participate. You may not live long enough to see everything come to pass, but how you live today still matters for the generations that will follow.

God knew Abraham’s heart and could trust him with such a vision. In Genesis 18:19, the Lord said, “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”

Sometimes your part in a great dream is to pray. Other times, it is in how you raise your children or the kind of values you pass on. Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” This means your choices today should carry wisdom and purpose that will bless even your grandchildren.

May God open your eyes to see the future of generations yet to come. May you perceive hundreds of years ahead and understand your role in the unfolding of God’s eternal purposes. Hallelujah!
