Описание: The first video in our Louisiana Highway 1 series, beginning at the northeastern end of Grand Isle, the only inhabited barrier island in the state of Louisiana. Grand Isle lies between the Gulf of Mexico and Caminada Bay. LA-1 runs southwest along the island, exiting the island to the northwest, on the Andy P. Valence Memorial Bridge (named for the late Mayor of Grand Isle) crossing Caminada Pass. LA-1 then runs southwest through the Town of Grand Isle, through the marsh, and to the junction of LA-3090 at Port Fourchon. Here, the Gateway to the Gulf Expressway begins. This is an elevated two-lane road that cuts a straight path to the north, across the marsh, and over Bayou Lafourche. At the end of the expressway, there is a 90 degree right turn on the bridge that takes traffic to Leeville. Future plans for the LA-1 Expressway include an extension north to Golden Meadow. From Leeville, LA-1 follows the west bank of Bayou Lafourche to Golden Meadow. This video ends at the junction of LA-1 and LA-3235, S. Alex Plaisance Blvd.
