(19 Mar 1978) In Istanbul, Turkey, the funeral for the eight people who died in a bomb attack on leftist students at Istanbul's University on Thursday (16 March), was held on Friday (17 March). Sixty other people were injured in the worst outbreak of political violence since last May. Police said rightist extremists threw the bomb at the students as they left classes. It brought the death toll from political feuding over the past four years in turkey, to more than 400.
