INGREDIENTS
3 1/2 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
optional additions (1 teaspoon each): black pepper, thyme, garlic and rosemary
1-12 ounce can beer
1/4 cup melted butter + extra for brushing the top
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix in optional additions, if desired. Add beer and butter and stir with a fork until just combined. You may still have some small lumps or spots of dry flour and that's ok!
Place bread in a loaf pan. Using a serrated knife, make a slit down the middle on top of the loaf. Brush the top of the bread with melted butter and place in 375°F preheated oven for 35-45 minutes until lightly golden and crusty on top.
Let cool in the pan for a few minutes, then cool completely on a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy!
