『North Korea's Politics and Society』 - This is the lecture of the 9th week.

✔Lecture Introduction
It discusses the characteristics and changes in North Korea's politics, economy, and society. It provides an overview of the North Korean communist system and its characteristics, as well as insights into North Korean leaders and governing ideologies, through visual icons such as pictures and photographs. It also examines the contents and specific examples of the marketization of the North Korean economy and the subsequent changes in North Korean society.

✔Lecture Objectives
It will cover various propaganda paintings, about the Chollima of Kim Il-sung era and the recent Mallima speed war of Kim Jong-un, particularly focusing on [Did You Rush Toward in the Spirit of Chollima].

✔Lecture Content
9th weekly topic is “Chollima/Mallima Speed War: North Korea’s Economy and Mobilization of the People," and the 9-5 session aims to examine “Western Military Service Poster and the Propaganda Icon of North Korean [Mallima].”

✔강의 소개
북한의 정치, 경제, 사회의 특징과 변화에 대해 논의한다. 북한의 공산화 과정과 정치체제의 특성에 대해 개괄하고, 북한의 지도자와 통치이념을 그림과 사진 등의 시각 도상을 통해 만나본다. 그리고 북한 경제의 시장화와 그에 따른 북한 사회의 변화에 관한 내용과 구체적인 사례를 살펴본다.

✔강의 목표
북한의 선전화 [동무는 천리마를 탔는가?]라는 작품을 중심으로, 김일성 시기의 천리마와 최근 김정은 까지의 만리마 속도전에 대한 다양한 선전화를 살펴본다.

✔강의 내용
9주차 강의 주제는 “속도전: 북한의 경제와 인민의 동원”이며, 5차시 강의에서는 “서구 징병 포스터와 북한의 [만리마] 선전화 도상”에 대해 살펴본다.
