Seated Calf Raises – machine is used by runners to strengthen the calves with emphasis on the soleus, which plays a key role in endurance running and maintaining ankle stiffness over long distances. This exercise supports push-off efficiency and helps reduce fatigue-related breakdown in running form.
Instructions:
Sit in the seated calf raise machine and place the balls of the feet on the platform with heels hanging free. Position the pads securely over the thighs just above the knees. Push through the toes to raise the heels as high as possible. Pause briefly at the top, then lower the heels slowly and under control back to the starting position.
Avoid common mistakes:
• bouncing at the bottom of the movement
• using too much weight and losing control
• limited range of motion
• rushing repetitions
Variations:
• with lighter or heavier resistance
• with pause at the top
• slow controlled lowering
• single-leg
• higher repetitions at low load
