Interco defeated a deep field to win the 1983 Grade 2 Bay Meadows Handicap over soft turf under Joe Judice for trainer Ted West.
Bred in Kentucky, Interco began his career in France before returning to the United States. The Bay Meadows Handicap was his first of six graded stakes victories, topped by wins on dirt in the Grade 1 San Fernando and Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. He retired with a record of 21-10-4-3 and $1,070,688 in earnings. Interco went on to be the sire of the million-dollar-earning California-bred Megan's Interco.
