Three Tips for Avoiding and Overcoming Burnout in Church and Ministry

Описание: Burnout is a major problem in the life of the church. Maybe you once were excited about serving in the church but before long you found yourself completely burned out. Maybe you're scared that you're on the edge of burnout. In any case, this video is for you! In this video we explore how to avoid and overcome church/ministry burnout. Specifically, we explore three main tips that will hopefully lead you to be maximally effective in your ministry for the long haul.

Tip One (02:55) - Recognize that burnout often stems from how you use your time outside of ministry. In this tip we explore a bit of the theology of sleep and how recognizing our limitations is actually a profoundly spiritual action. We also talk about taking a sabbath, prioritizing your life so that you seek first the kingdom of God, and how your "no's" strengthen your "yes's."

Tip Two (06:46) - Remember your why. In this tip we talked about how remembering why you're in ministry will help you continue in ministry. We also talked about the importance of recognizing that we don't serve FOR God's approval but FROM God's approval. Additionally, we talked about the fact that in Christ we are a new creation, and it is in our very nature to be servants.

Tip Three (08:12) - Strive for sustainability in ministry, not balance. Our culture has become obsessed with the idea of balance, and somehow we've tried to baptize this into a Christian ideal. As Christians we're not called to a balanced life. Instead, we should be looking for sustainability. However, we don't seek sustainability on our own power, but rather we recognize Christ as our sustainer.
