Izzy Okay’s act draws visual parallels between drag makeup and the Greek tragedy mask, featuring a mask painted to mirror his own made-up face, juxtaposing dramatic masculinities ancient and modern. The act evokes the complexities and ambivalence of being a marginalized person drawn to a Classical world that is often violent in its texts and their legacies.
