Ángel Chamorro, MD, PhD, Hospital Clinic of Barcelona & University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, discusses the importance of considering the microcirculation as a therapeutic target in patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy, highlighting that angiography results may not accurately reflect the status of the microcirculation. Dr Chamorro notes that the CHOICE2 study (NCT05797792) confirms the need to look beyond angiography results and consider additional therapeutic strategies to address microcirculation perfusion problems.
