At a press conference following the cabinet’s first meeting, the Chief Minister said it was with humility and hard work that they would get on with the task at hand. They had, he said, an obligation to talk less and deliver more.
The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, will retain responsibility for the Economy, Public Finance, and will take on and Financial Stability, Digital Services and the IT & Logistics Department. He'll be responsible for broadcasting.
Constituency: Moorish Castle, Calpe and Upper town
Joseph Garcia will remain as Deputy Chief Minister, and retain his previous ministerial responsibilities.
Constituency: Lower town
Gemma Arias Vasquez will take on Health and Care portfolios, as well as Business, the Port, Town Planning, and Public Utilities. She becomes the Chair for Aquagib and Gibelec.
Constituency: Westside area
Nigel Feetham will be the Minister for Financial Services and Gaming, as well as Justice.
Constituency: Glacis, Laguna, Ocean Village and Bayside
Christian Santos will take on the Equality portfolio, as well as Employment, Culture and Tourism.
Constituency: Varyl Begg, Gib V and Mid Harbours
John Cortes will retain responsibility for Education, the Environment and Climate Change, as well as Heritage. He will also take on Transport and Traffic, as well as Technical Services. He's responsible for the development of developing relations with Morocco.
Constituency: Alameda and South District
Pat Orfila will be the Minister for Housing.
Constituency: Bayview, Cumberland, Nelson's View, Anchorage, Rosie Plaza and Rosie Dale, Europa Point
Leslie Bruzon will take on Sport, Industrial Relations, and Civil Contingencies.
Constituency: Eastside and Caleta
And, Sir Joe Bossano will remain the Minister for Economic Development.
Constituency: Senior Citizens
Delivering a treaty tops the list of priorities but with the need for balance firmly in the Government's mind.
For its part, the Gibraltar Morocco Business Association, says it's eagerly looking forward to collaborating with Minister John Cortes in furthering business and trade relations between Gibraltar and Morocco. It believes his expanded role developing links with Morocco will pave the way for strengthening these ties and creating opportunities for economic growth and cooperation between the regions.
