Plastic Currency Notes: Plastic—or polymer—currency notes may soon be seen in India. Although a final decision to issue these notes in the country has not yet been taken, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken a significant step in this direction. The RBI's currency printing unit, Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited, has issued a global tender for the procurement of the special polymer sheets required to print polymer notes.
