STRICTLY SECURITY | The American administration is expecting to release the deal of the century sometime soon yet, there are many questions as to what it might be include. One question is what will happen to 'Area C'? Will this area not be a part of the West Bank? 

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Malki branded the forthcoming US peace proposal on the Israel-Palestinian conflict as an unacceptable "act of surrender."

Speaking at the London think thank Chatam House, Malki said the deal- dubbed by US President Donald Trump as the "deal of the century" is in fact "the consecration of [Palestinians] century-old ordeal."

"Our people have not struggled for so long and endured so much to simply change the size of their chains. They want freedom, not conditional liberty, they want sovereignty not limited autonomy, they want peace and coexistence, not domination and subjugation."

"When it comes to taking the lead on peace efforts, the world left the steering wheel in the hand of a reckless driver. We disagree with the view that we should wait till he goes over a cliff or runs over the Palestinian people to do something about it," Malki said.

Malki insisted that with the peace deal, "this [US] administration is preparing to give its stamp of approval to Israel's colonial policies."

"There are two ways to end a conflict: a peace accord or a capitulation, meaning a surrender act. We continue to stand ready to negotiate a peace accord, based on the internationally-recognized terms of reference and the pre-1967 borders, under international monitoring holding accountable the parties and within a determined and binding time-frame. We will never be ready to sign a surrender act."

The Palestinians have pre-preemptively rejected the Trump administration’s peace plan, which is expected to be focused around a number of economic initiatives aimed at stabilizing the Palestinian territories.

Top Palestinian officials have said that the plan is “dead on arrival” and that it falsely assumes that money will compensate for the “inalienable rights” of the Palestinian people.

Reports emerged recently that the deal, which is expected to be made public in mid-June, will recognize that all Israeli-settled areas “will remain in Israeli hands under a permanent accord”.

More than 400,000 Israelis live among around 2.8 million Palestinians in settlements built on land seized by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War.

West Bank settlements are seen as a major obstacle to peace as they are built on land Palestinians see as their future state.
