This one-minute reel documents a New Zealand Tongan production team—Nikolase Meredith (producer), Rewi Amoamo (cinematographer), and Sylvester Tonga (interviewer)—screening short documentaries they co-created with the coastal villages of Tefisi and Makave in Vava’u, Tonga.
In July 2025, the team was funded by a community research grant from Te Ara Poutama Faculty at Auckland University of Technology to produce Tongan language films for social media, focusing on marine protected areas and no-take zones in the villages of Tefisi and Makave. In December 2025, the team returned to Vava’u to give these visual stories back to the communities, particularly the village marine management committees working to restore ocean ecosystems and conserve inshore fisheries for future generations.
