Nidji is a Jakarta-based music group formed on February 2, 2002. Comprising Muhammad Yusuf Nur Ubay on vocals, Andi Ariel Harsya and Ramadhista Akbar on guitars, Randy Danistha on keyboard and synthesizer, Andro Regantoro on bass, and Adri Prakarsa on drums, Nidji blends modern rock with elements of progressive, funk, alternative, and pop music. Influenced indirectly by bands like Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, Radiohead, and The Killers, Nidji’s musical style is characterized by its eclectic fusion. In 2019, through the Nidji Vocal Hunt auditions, Muhammad Yusuf Nur Ubay was selected as the new vocalist, succeeding Giring Ganesha who had ventured into politics. Additionally, Nidji has appeared in music videos such as Project Pop’s “Angkat Dong” and Chrisye’s “Lirih.”

Established in 2002, Nidji released their debut album titled “Breakthru’” in 2006, featuring hit singles like “Sudah,” “Hapus Aku,” “Bila Aku Jatuh Cinta,” “Kau dan Aku,” and “Disco Lazy Time.” Three of these singles topped the charts on MTV Ampuh. In 2007, they followed up with their second album “Top Up,” showcasing tracks like “Biarlah,” “Jangan Lupakan,” “Arti Sahabat,” “Akhir Cinta Abadi,” and “Shadow,” which served as the soundtrack for the film “Heroes.” Notably, “Shadow” remained at #1 on MTV Ampuh for 13 weeks despite not reaching the top ten on other music charts. Nidji also led the compilation album “Ost. Laskar Pelangi” with the standout single “Laskar Pelangi,” earning platinum certifications for their songs.
