The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is currently under lockdown as authorities investigate reports of an active shooter on campus.
In response to the situation, all City of Chattanooga government buildings have also been placed on lockdown until further notice.
UTC sent out an active shooter alert to students and staff early Thursday afternoon.
The alert, sent at 12:42 p.m. Thursday, says:
"UTC-ALERT: Possible active shooter in University Center or Library. Run. Hide. fight. More info forthcoming.
A subsequent alert from the university said there is 'no threat on campus at this time.'"
A Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman tells us this started as a shots fired call. As of 1 p.m., she says police have not located any victims on campus.
