Today we're going to take a look at the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3500 pound easy lube axles. This one has the 5 on 5.5 inch bolt pattern. Now this trailer hub assembly is designed to fit easy lube idler axles and the easy lube axles are the ones that have the grease zerk fitting that's on the end of the spindle that allows you to grease the bearings without having to remove the complete hub assembly. Now this idler hub assembly will include everything shown here on the table, the bearing races are included but they are pre-installed. As you can see the outer bearing race right here, and on the back the inner bearing race. Both the inner and outer bearings are included, the grease seal, the easy lube grease cap with the rubber plug, and the five half inch lug nuts.

Now what's nice about this in the easy lube system, this easy lube compatible grease cap makes lubricating your bearings fast and easy. Basically all you do is pop out this, this would be installed just like that, you pop out the rubber plug and that'll give you access to that zerk fitting that'll be on the end of your spindle so there's no need to disassemble your hub just to grease the bearings again. It saves you a lot of time, makes it very quick and easy. Now the hub assembly itself is a sturdy iron construction. It is certified by U.S. SAE standards and CSA which is a Canadian standard.

Again the application for this is 3500 pound easy lube trailer axles with the number 84 spindles. It is compatible with axles from most manufacturers including Dexter, Lippert, and Alko. The bolt pattern on this one is a 5 on 5.5 inch bolt pattern, it does use wheel size of 14 inch up to 17.5 inches. The weight capacity per hub is 1750 pounds so when you put two on the axle it meets your 3500 pound maximum capacity. A little information on all these parts that are included. The bearings, the inner bearing which is the larger of the two, is part number L68149 has an inside diameter of 1.378.

That would go right on the inner bearing race just like that. Now the grease seal has an overall diameter of 2.565. That would go in there and you tap that in to help keep that all in place. The outer bearing which is the smaller of the two it's a part number L44649 has an inner diameter of 1.063. That would go on the outer bearing race just like that and then you put in your zinc plated easy lube grease cap that has the rubber plug in it, flange diameter on it is 1.99 inches.

It taps in just like that and then again you can pop that plug out to access the zerk fitting. For this video I'm just showing you where the parts go but you do need to, when you install these, you need to actually pack these bearings with grease and then initially install them and then from then on if it needs to get more grease added you just do it through the easy lube cap. It does include the 5 half inch by 20 size lug nuts, those are used to hold your wheel and tire assembly to this hub assembly. You just put your wheel up on these studs, go ahead and put your lug nut on, and then go ahead and tighten that down and torque it to the specs for your application.
