A segment from the Australian music interview TV series The Meldrum Tapes, of which 24 episodes aired on the ABC in 1986. The Meldrum Tapes featured full length interviews that Countdown Talent Co-Ordinator, Ian 'Molly' Meldrum, conducted over his many overseas trips during the Countdown years, which aired on the ABC from 1974-1987. Where Countdown would feature a small part of the interview (constrained due to time), The Meldrum Tapes aired the interviews in full.
This clip features an interview of British band The Rolling Stones (featuring band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman), conducted by Countdown Talent Co-Ordinator Molly Meldrum.
The interview begins with a discussion between Molly and Ronnie and Bill about the differing professional interests of the individual members, and if it is difficult to get back together for recording albums and touring. Molly also asks Bill if it was hard to shake off the Rolling Stones tag while recording and performing solo.
The next part of the interview features Molly discussing with Mick what he had earlier discussed with Bill and Ronnie. Molly also discusses with Mick whether he wishes to go back on tour again. Molly also discusses with Mick about his role as a father, and what concerns he has about it.
The last part of the interview features Molly discussing with Keith about why he loves rock 'n' roll music.
Vaxfacts: Of the four interviewees, Bill Wyman is the only one who is not presently in the Rolling Stones, having left the band in 1993.
