The top 2 high impedance Samarium Cobalt moving magnet cartridges from Stanton. Samarium Cobalt magnets are 1/10th the mass of standard magnets making the moving mass lighter than moving iron and moving coil cartridges. The main difference between the two models is the lower moving mass of the 981HZS; the same improvement the 681EEE has over the 681EE. The mass of the stylus, cantilever, and moving magnet were reduced in the 981HZS that result in higher tracking ability and an extended frequency response. Although the stylus assemblies are interchangeable, the 881S wi wll not be upgraded to a 981 by using the 981 stylus assembly. The coils of the 981 were re-tuned for an optimal frequency response with the lower mass stylus assembly.
