I know recording audio during exterior tour is bad. Time for a new mic.
This is a 2007 Sun-Lite Skyhawk SB camper made for mid-size pickups such as the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Ford Ranger, and Chevy Colorado. It clocks in at about 1,000lbs dry and comes with all amenities that campers of this size can offer. I picked this thing up for $3,000 which is a STEAL considering what new ones are going for these days.
Although Sun-Lite is no longer in business, most of the parts on this unit are from aftermarket companies, such as Dometic, which will make upgrading and repairing a breeze. If you are thinking of getting a used camper like this one, make certain you check for moisture, softness, and visible rot. Be prepared to do some maintenance, such as waterproofing, even if everything looks good.
A few things to note that I did not include in the video:
I also strap down the rear of the camper before I head on out the road using some heavy duty ratchet straps (temporary solution).
The fridge currently does not operate when driving due to the lack of available power (propane flame blows out due to wind from driving).
Water tank is actually 12 gallons
A converter (110/120v to 12v) is better for campgrounds whereas an inverter (12v to 110/120v) is better for boondocking.
The shore power was tapped to the side of the camper because I had it plugged in while going down the road and I did not want the 'door' to flap around.
One thing I am thinking about doing is modding the Tacoma's AC 110v power in bed so that I can get up to 400w while driving. Currently the Tacoma will limit the outlet in the bed to 100w while in motion. This mod would allow me to run the fridge off of AC power at 125w while I drive to my destination. Once parked I could then switch over to propane.
Let me know any suggestions and ideas about this camper in the comments.
Thanks!!
