CSADI - A twist in design for smart construction - Dassault Systèmes

The Wuhan Next Generation Meteorological Radar Tower is the latest ground-breaking project by design engineering firm CSADI. Our vision is to transform into a high tech enterprise to manage all elements in urban construction. The Wuhan Next Generation Meteorological Radar Tower has a complex hyperbolic shape, like a dancing duo. This intricate shape posed great challenges in both design and construction. To accomplish their vision, CSADI maximised the available applications on the 𝟯𝗗EXPERIENCE platform throughout the entire process, from planning to design and construction. CATIA on the 𝟯𝗗EXPERIENCE platform allowed us to determine the optimal 18-degree angle for the twisting tower. We collaborated with the construction contractor using the model to fine tune the design and show the contractor how things should be done. We used a virtual twin to test and verify everything before construction. We also leveraged DELMIA and SIMULIA for simulation, combining construction simulation from DELMIA with computational simulation from SIMULIA. We simulated the installation of the facade components with DELMIA with specific scenarios including wind calculations and installation ergonomics, so we could determine ideal conditions for workers to safely install the façade. ENOVIA and NETVIBES have helped us to manage the whole construction process, including safety management. With ENOVIA, we were able to coordinate more than 10 disciplines like water, plumbing and HVAC. We can easily view the 3D model in ENOVIA on-site via web interface on mobile devices, allowing for real-time collaboration between designers and contractors. The rendered images with 𝟯𝗗EXCITE helped us to select the materials for interior design. With the success they’ve experienced, CSADI is confident about taking its future construction projects to a higher level. Having the design and construction plan within the same model has led us to completing the construction schedule nearly 30% faster. We needed to bring all disciplines covering structure, water, heating, electricity cost and geotechnical engineering within the same 3D model. The 𝟯𝗗EXPERIENCE platform has catalyzed a critical change in our mindset.
