Climate Justice and the Disproportionate Burden on Developing Nations

Contributing less than one percent of global emissions, Pakistan has nonetheless been subjected to some of the most catastrophic and disproportionate impacts of the global climate crisis, including the devastating and unprecedented floods of 2022 that caused immeasurable human suffering, widespread destruction, and billions of dollars in economic losses. The Prime Minister called upon the global community to acknowledge this fundamental inequity and to anchor all sustainable development efforts firmly in the principles of equity, justice, and fairness, without which global peace will remain permanently and inevitably elusive.
