In this recording of a 'Wednesday seminar' we hear from Helen Chittock a Project Officer for AOC, Archaeology Group, and the Chair of the Later Prehistoric Finds Group. Helen specializes in later prehistoric art in Britain and continental Europe. Additionally, she has given talks to local archaeology groups and is active with archaeological and museological outreach programmes.
In this talk, she presents her on-going research relating to pattern in British Iron Age art. This lecture represents a new dimension regarding the purpose of decoration. Helen discusses the utility of a holistic approach to pattern that seeks to dissolve the distinctions that have historically divided arts and crafts during this period.
