Gabriele Usper (fl. c 1619~1630)
Very little is known of Gabriele Usper. He was the nephew and pupil of Francesco Usper (who studied with Andrea Gabrieli, uncle of Giovanni Gabrieli), both born in Rovigno, Istria (Today Croatia), abandoned their original surname Sponga in honour of their Venetian patron Cesare Usper. Gabriele Usper was active in Venice and distinguished himself from his older uncle Francesco by displaying a music with a newer, more modern idiom. His compositions are marked by experimentation with sound registers, a penchant for unusual and collage forms, openness to expressive innovations.
From the Album:

Bojan Čičić (violin), Gawain Glenton (cornetto), The Illyria Consort, Marian Consort, Rory McCleery,

I highly recommend you buy this album!
