Solo In India's Biggest Slum🇮🇳

On this day I went to go explore Dharavi, Mumbai's (and India's) largest slum area. At the beginning of the video I mention that the word "slum" might be used differently in different contexts, so I'd like to mention that here as well. It can be used in a rude, figurative way in the Western world, but in India it is used in a more matter of fact/literal way (since it is indeed a government designation, it therefore seems to not have the same rude connotation here in India). As such, I want to reiterate that I am using it in the latter way, in a literal sense, and I mean no offense by using the term.

Things didn't get off to a great start as I tried and failed to buy fruit from a fruit vendor who just completely ignored me. Later, I was successfully able to buy and eat some fruit. I met lots of cool people on the day, including some incredibly nice chai guys who wouldn't let me pay for the chai I had. To be honest I was a bit discouraged by the fruit vendor guy who ignored me in the way that he did, but as I mention in a subtitle after meeting the chai guys, it's important (to me anyway) to remember that for every fruit vendor who ignores you (or any similarly negative experience you have while traveling), you will eventually encounter incredibly kind people like those chai guys. I'm trying to remind myself of such things more often.

All in all it was a fun day.
