A card collector from Malaysia was recently hit with a stroke of the best luck there can be among fans of the series Yu-Gi-Oh!, but he was anything but happy. The franchise recently released a limited-edition card that’s much coveted by fans, including himself. He was in such a rush to open the card packet to see if the lucky card was inside, that the whole situation ended in disaster. He did indeed pull out the ultra-rare card, but he quickly noticed that he had snipped off a corner with the scissors in his rush. Let’s watch his reaction.
What!
Arrrgh!
I could’ve paid my car’s down payment!
Voice of Ryu Kim
Nipped ultra rare card
I noticed I had cut off the corner. I really just… broke down within a second or two. I posted the video online because I wanted to show everyone that it was over for No. 25 of the series.

When collectors open their card packets, they don’t go one by one. Instead they put them in a pile and do several at the same time. That makes it really easy to accidentally cut off the edge.

That was No. 25 in the series, which matches the attack power of the Dark Magician, which is 2,500. So collectors will especially seek out No. 25 of the serialized series. But now no collector will want it.
The card was one of the rarest serialized in the Limit Over Collection, which introduced “overframes” on the cards and is limited to Asia. For laypeople, the Dark Magician card and all the bells and whistles may not sound like such a big deal. But if you look online trading platforms you’ll understand why the collector was in such deep despair. Similar cards go for as high as NT$1.2 million. It’s a reminded that, if you are serious about collecting, you better be careful with those scissors.
