Make a swipe reveal effect in FCPX - Before & after effect NO PLUGINS!

In this video I'm showing you how to make a swipe reveal effect in FCPX with no plugins, just the basic tools that come with Final Cut Pro. This simple before and after slider effect is commonly used to show how LUTS or Presets effect video or photo but could also be used for home renovation before and after style video or maybe even for beauty or fitness transformation reveals or anything really where you want to swipe to reveal something.

I was inspired to make this video after seeing a website selling a plugin to create this effect but just thought it was so unnecessary as it is so easy to make a swipe reveal in final cut without using any plugins.
We will be using the draw mask tool in FCPX and optionally we can add a divider line over the top using a basic shape effect. Making a before and after slider in Final Cut only takes a few minutes and you can change it to suit your own needs and style very easily.
