In the second episode of Car Talk with K, Kimberly Petraccaro discusses copper grounding strips. Part of an ESD flooring system, copper strips are used to create an electrical connection from the flooring system to ground. ESD flooring requires one copper strip per 1000 ft2 of flooring; copper strips are placed at the perimeter of the room. Each space – for example, each hallway, whatever the size – is considered a separate room and needs its own copper strip. Copper strips connect to an electrical outlet or other earth ground.
